Frequently Asked Questions
How does online learning work?
All courses are delivered through Canvas, an industry-standard learning management system. Coursework is asynchronous, meaning you complete assignments on your own schedule within set deadlines. Teachers are available for questions and feedback throughout the semester.
Will my credits transfer?
UT High School is fully accredited by Cognia (formerly AdvancED) and approved by the Texas Education Agency. Our credits are designed to transfer to other accredited institutions. We recommend checking with your destination school about their specific transfer policies.
Is this considered homeschooling?
No. UT High School is a fully accredited public school. Students are enrolled in an accredited institution and receive an official Texas high school diploma upon graduation.
What technology do I need?
You will need a computer or tablet with reliable broadband internet access, and a webcam and microphone for proctored exams. UTHS does not provide equipment. All instruction is delivered in English.
How much time will I need to commit each week?
Most students spend 5-7 hours per week per course. Full-time students typically take 6-7 courses per semester, requiring approximately 30-40 hours weekly of focused study time.
Are there options for military-connected students?
Yes. U.S. military dependents stationed outside Texas may qualify for the International Diploma Program. Contact our team for guidance on eligibility and enrollment.
What dual credit options are available?
UT High School offers dual credit courses in partnership with select colleges. These credits apply to both your high school and college transcripts. Contact your academic counselor for current dual credit offerings and eligibility requirements.
