Texas Credit by Exam Policies
19 TAC §74.24 (see Subchapter C)
Awarding Placement Credit
The student's local district is the only entity that may award placement credit following a Credit by Exam. Local school districts will use the exam grade to make credit determination according to Texas's credit by exams policy 19 TAC §74.24. UT High School will work with districts if questions arise regarding student testing history or exam integrity. Therefore, families should obtain permission from their local district BEFORE purchasing a CBE. UT High School does NOT provide refunds.
Re-Exam Policies
A school district must provide at least one window to test between EACH of the following:
- January 1 and March 31
- April 1 and June 30
- July 1 and September 30
- October 1 and December 31
A student may take a specific examination only once during each window. A student may not attempt to earn credit by examination for a specific high school course more than two times.
Note: UT High School only develops two forms of an exam (the original and the re-exam). Therefore, all students in grades K-12 have only two attempts for each exam. Each exam version is sold separately.
