
Math Teacher
Dr. Ellen James joined UT High School in 2025, bringing with her nineteen years of experience teaching mathematics and computer science at both secondary and post-secondary levels. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a STEM specialization from Texas Tech University, a master’s degree in mathematics education from the University of Houston, and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to her role at UT High School, Dr. James serves as an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Austin Community College. Outside the classroom, she enjoys cheering on Longhorn football, spending time with her granddaughter and two golden retrievers, and traveling with her best friend and husband, Jesse.
