World History
Mr. Route joined UTHS in the fall of 2020. In his 29 year secondary teaching and coaching career he has taught Physical Education, Drivers Education, Texas History, US History and currently is the World History content lead at Stony Point High School in Round Rock. He also has twenty two years of coaching various high school sports including 15 years as head basketball coach at Stony Point High School. He graduated from Paris High School (Texas) in 1987 and Southwest Texas State University with a major in Exercise and Sports Science with a minor in History in 1991. Shortly thereafter he also received his Masters Degree in Education at Texas A & M Kingsville. In his free time, Mr. Route enjoys spending time with his wife Shelby of 22 years and his two sons Reid and Rhett. You can often find Mr. Route on a local golf course, riding his bike, fishing, and coaching select basketball in and around the Austin Area. His expertise, dedication, and commitment in education provides a solid foundation for the students he encounters.
