Gifted and Talented Professional Development
UTHS offers online, self-paced professional development courses facilitated by specialists in gifted/talented education. Our courses meet the state requirements for G/T foundational 30-hour training and 6-hour annual updates — a convenient, flexible way for educators, counselors, and administrators to engage in high-quality professional development on their own schedule. Courses may be taken individually or as a complete series.
Note: G/T courses are not currently available for TEA Blended Learning reimbursement.

According to the Texas State Plan, a minimum of thirty clock hours of professional development that includes nature and needs of gifted/talented students, identification and assessment of gifted/talented students’ needs, and curriculum and instruction for gifted/talented students is required for teachers who provide instruction and services that are part of the district’s defined gifted/talented services. Teachers are required to complete the thirty hours prior to their assignment to the district’s gifted/talented services (19 TAC §89.2(1)). Our foundational courses meet and align to all required areas of G/T professional development for the 30-hour foundational training.

Online Course Policies
Participants have 60 days to complete each online professional development course. Campus or district administrators who pay for educators to participate may request approval for a shorter or longer access period at the time of enrollment.

How to Enroll
- Download the enrollment spreadsheet — you will be prompted to make a copy in Google Sheets.
- Rename your copy using your district or campus name.
- Complete the spreadsheet with educator names, courses requested, and enrollment details.
- Return the completed spreadsheet along with an approved Purchase Order to pd@uthighschool.org to initiate enrollment.
- A confirmation email with your invoice will be sent once enrollment is processed. Volume discounts are applied automatically.
