Course Description
Advanced Placement® Human Geography B is the second semester in a two-semester series. One-half credit is awarded for successful completion of each semester. Students will be eligible for World Geography credit through this course. AP® Human Geography introduces students to the systematic study of patterns and processes that have shaped human understanding, use, and alteration of Earth’s surface. Students employ spatial concepts and landscape analysis to examine human social organization and its environmental consequences. They also learn about the methods and tools geographers use in their science and practice. The course is structured according to the course outline found in the most recent AP® Human Geography Course Description published by the College Board. This AP® course is demanding and you can expect graded assignments in traditional AP format, map quizzes, essays, research papers, projects, and local field work. You are required to maintain a Geographer’s Notebook for notes and assignments.
Course Organization
This semester consists of:
- 15 Graded Assignments
- 1 final exam
You must take and pass each semester’s final exam to receive credit for the course. After taking the semester B exam, you may take the AP® Human Geography exam offered by the CollegeBoard, but it is not required to receive credit for the course from UT High School.

Format: Multiple-choice, online.
