Course Description
Business Information Management 2B is the second semester course of Business Information Management 2. In the Business, Marketing, and Finance Career Cluster, BIM 2 is the Level 2 course in the Business Management Program of Study. In this course, students will further their knowledge in these Units of Study: Creating a Database, Presentation, Interpersonal, and Interview Skills, Digital Portfolios, and Digital Portfolio Presentations.
Course Objectives
Upon completing this course, you will be able to:
- communicate effectively with others using oral and written skills,
- demonstrate collaboration skills through teamwork,
- demonstrate professionalism by conducting oneself in a manner appropriate for the profession and workplace,
- demonstrate time-management skills by prioritizing tasks, following schedules, and tending to goal-relevant activities in a way that uses time wisely and optimizes efficiency and results,
- create and interpret items such as tables, charts, infographics, and figures to accomplish specific occupational tasks,
- prepare oral presentations to provide information for specific purposes and audiences,
- identify support materials that will enhance an oral presentation,
- prepare support materials that will enhance an oral presentation,
- deliver an oral presentation that sustains listeners' attention,
- align presentation strategies to the intended audience,
- implement multimedia strategies for presentations,
- use online presentation management technologies to create, edit, transport, and share documents,
- demonstrates public relations skills to increase internal and external customer satisfaction. The student is expected to communicate effectively when developing positive customer relationships,
- design a database to solve business problems,
- use advanced functions of database management such as updating queries, creating formulas, using built-in formulas, and creating custom format reports,
- prepare a professional electronic portfolio that includes information such as:
- attainment of technical skill competencies,
- licensures or certifications,
- recognitions, awards, and scholarships,
- extended learning experiences such as community service and active participation in career and technical student organizations and professional organizations,
- sample letter of application,
- abstract of key points of accomplishments,
- resume,
- samples of work, and
- evaluation from a teacher,
- present the portfolio to interested stakeholders.
Required Course Materials
- Interactive Notebook – In the form of a small composition notebook, a spiral notebook, or loose-leaf paper kept in a binder.
- Pencil or Pen – In order to do well in the course, you must take notes, sketch diagrams and graphs, and solve problems when instructed to do so.
- Microsoft Office or Google Suite Applications
Course Organization
This semester contains 4 Units and one final exam.
Each Unit contains:
- 2-5 lessons. Each lesson includes all the following components: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate.
- Self-assessments to help you check your own understanding of the material covered in each lesson. You must complete these assessments to advance in the course.
- 3 to 4 graded assignments
Final Examination
The final examination is comprehensive; it covers the material from all 4 units.
