AP® Human Geography

Institute Week
Week 1: June 13-June 16, 2023

The four-day AP Human Geography Summer Institute is for both new and experienced teachers.   During the course of the week, participants will learn how to align instruction and pacing with the goals and curriculum of the AP Human Geography course. Participants will create or revise their syllabus in order to align with the AP Human Geography Course Exam Description (CED). Content by units, strategies for instruction and best practices for the course will be shared, as well as the geographical skills and content knowledge that the exam will assess. During our four days together, participants will learn how to access and utilize AP Classroom, the online resources developed by the College Board.  We will examine assessments, develop case studies and content-related activities, as well as analyze free-response questions and scoring guidelines for each unit of study. Participants will acquire differentiated instructional techniques and content-specific strategies that can be used in the classroom for all grades and levels, ensuring equitable access.
