Purple Star Campus Designation Logo

The Texas Education Agency awarded Purple Star Campus Designations for both UTHS-Texas and UTHS-International campuses!

Congratulations to both campuses! We appreciate our military-connected students and families and honor their service to our country. We know when a parent serves, the entire family serves too. We appreciate the work of our staff in supporting our military-connected students and families by recognizing their sacrifices and helping students succeed. We extend a special thank you to our program leader Ileana Mendez and team members Dan Diehl, Oscar Arroyo, and Kelly Seiler for their work in leading our staff in a variety of efforts to support military-connected students and families throughout our UT School District.

This special Purple Star designation, created by the 86th Texas Legislature through SB 1557, recognizes campuses for demonstrating support and commitment to meeting the unique needs of military-connected students and their families. This year’s award designation is effective for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years. Campuses who receive the award this year will need to re-certify to retain the designation in the Spring of the 2023-24, for the 2024-25 school year.

Texas is home to the second largest military-connected student population nationally. The Lone Star State was recently recognized for the Purple Star Campus Designation program and featured on a panel at the Military Child Education Coalition Global Summit in Washington, D.C. in July, 2022. It is the commitment and work of school leaders like yourself that make Texas one of the leading states nationally for recognizing and supporting the needs of military connected students and families.
