Math & Science Inclusion Teacher

Julie Rigby joins the staff of UTHS from Austin ISD where she served as a special education teacher and department chair. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas and a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from Texas State University. She began her educational career as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, completing eligibility testing for students referred to special education. In 2002, she obtained her teaching certification from Region13 and served as special education department chair in Wimberley ISD and Austin ISD. She ran the Academic Center providing academic support for students served through special education and 504. She taught modified math courses including Algebra 1, Geometry, and Math Modeling and inclusion work in Algebra 1, Geometry, and Math Modeling. She worked at the Ann Richards School for Young Woman Leaders, providing inclusion support across all content areas and taught Professional Communication. She has taught inclusion classes in Algebra 1, provided academic support for Geometry and Algebra 2, and Biology inclusion. She also ran the Saturday school tutorial program and has worked in the online credit recovery program. Her passion is helping students develop academic and self-advocacy skills so that they can be successful in all areas of their lives. She enjoys supporting the Austin FC soccer team and spending time with her family.
