Course Description
Business Information Management 2A is the first semester course of Business Information Management 2. In the Business, Marketing, and Finance Career Cluster, BIM 2 is the Level 2 course in the Business Management Program of Study. In this course, students will further their knowledge in these Units of Study: Business Communication, Business Documents and Word Processing Technology, Spreadsheets and Financial Statements, and Project Management.
Course Objectives
Upon completing this course, you will be able to:
- demonstrate collaboration skills through teamwork,
- communicate effectively with others using oral and written skills
- demonstrate professionalism by conducting oneself in a manner appropriate for the profession and workplace
- demonstrate time-management skills by prioritizing tasks, following schedules, and tending to goal-relevant activities in a way that uses time wisely and optimizes efficiency and results

- communicate with relevant parties, such as coworkers and customers, by interpreting verbal and nonverbal behaviors

- record information needed to present a report on a given topic and use items such as tables of contents, indexes, tabs, footnotes, endnotes, captions, and/or building blocks
- write business correspondence using advanced word processing features such as templates and forms; mail merge, including letters, labels, and envelopes; and document protection and security that convey information effectively using correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization
- evaluate the reliability of information from sources such as informational texts, Internet websites, and technical materials and resources
- create and interpret items such as tables, charts, infographics, and figures to accomplish specific occupational tasks
- recognize and apply spreadsheet items such as lookup tables, what-if and built-in functions, macros, and advanced charts, graphs, and functions
- create and interpret financial statements such as comparisons and projections, predictions and forecasts, trend analyses, and charts and graphs

Required Course Materials
- Interactive Notebook – In the form of a small composition notebook, a spiral notebook, or loose-leaf paper kept in a binder.
- Pencil or Pen – In order to do well in the course, you must take notes, sketch diagrams and graphs, and solve problems when instructed to do so.
- Internet Access
- Microsoft Office or Google Suite Applications
Note: This course does not require a textbook.
Course Organization
This semester contains 4 Units, 2 6-week exams, and 1 final exam.
Each Unit contains:
- 2-3 lessons. Each lesson includes all of the following components: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate.
- Self-assessments to help you check your own understanding of the material covered in each lesson. You must complete these assessments to advance in the course.
- 3 to 4 graded assignments
Final Examination
The final examination is comprehensive; it covers the material from all 4 units.
