UTHS Student Feature

I am Emma and I have been enrolled in UTHS since October of 2016. I am currently a senior projected to graduate in June of 2018. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about UTHS regarding my personal experience with the program. UTHS has allowed me to focus on myself, my family, my personal growth, and my future endeavors.

I am originally from Neosho, Missouri and moved to Texas in 2007. I have one sister, Reiley, with whom I am very close, who attends nursing school at Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi. I attended private and public schools in La Grange, Texas where I was a varsity cheerleader, swim team member, powerlifting team member, and a wind ensemble flute player. I realized that these activities that I had focused so much of my attention on were not of great importance to me. I knew I held potential within myself and that I just needed encouragement and the right support to excel. I was overcome with curiosity about what else could be out there for me that would allow me to succeed in the future. That is when I found the UT High School online program. My parents only wanted the best for me which influenced their decision to allow me to take on the challenge of self-paced online learning which required self-discipline and self-determination. I have gained these skills, which I previously lacked, through this experience at UTHS and have also acquired a sense of self-worth and a positive outlook for my short and long-term goals.

I was accepted into Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi and plan to enroll in the Clinical Laboratory Science program. I am overwhelmed with excitement about what my future might hold. UTHS helped me come as far as I have. The teachers, staff, and counselor have always stayed in contact with me, encouraged me to be a better version of myself, and have always had their doors (emails!) open whenever I need assistance with anything. My experience with UTHS has been nothing short of exceptional.

The flexibility of this non-traditional, alternative learning experience helped me obtain many different jobs, attend family weddings and get-togethers, and most importantly, grow and mature on my own while gaining independence. I could not be as positive of a person as I am today without this program, the support of my parents, and the ever-growing desire to improve and as an individual. I am forever grateful for this experience, and I encourage you to find the determination within yourself and never stop running with it.
