ELA Learning Specialist
Candance Johnston joined the UT High School International staff in 2022 after serving full-time in the classroom for six years. She is experienced in teaching AP Literature and Composition, English I for both on-level and honors students, and on-level English II and IV in school districts in North Texas. She also has a background in teaching social studies courses, including Sociology, Psychology and Mexican American Culture. Candance has a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on culturally relevant instruction and has a passion for designing curriculum that is focused on creating an equitable and culturally responsive learning environment that sets all students up for success. Outside of education, she enjoys practicing and teaching yoga, reading memoirs and indulging in true crime documentaries and podcasts.
