
Director of District Programs
Melissa Freeman joined UT High School in June 2018 and brings over 13 years of experience in K–12 education. She oversees online professional development—including AP Summer Institutes—and leads College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) and Advanced Academics initiatives. She also manages school partnerships, marketing, and conference participation.
Melissa began her career at Manor New Tech High School, a STEM and project-based learning campus, where she taught English and a UT SPURS rhetoric course. She also coached middle school athletics and held leadership roles including English Department Head, GT Coordinator, ELL Coordinator, Student Council Sponsor, and RtI Team Member.
She holds a B.A. in English and an M.Ed. in Talent Development from Texas State University. A certified Texas principal and teacher in Secondary English, ESL, GT, Speech, and Social Studies, she has presented at campus, district, and national levels, including five years at the New Tech Network Annual Conference.
Melissa enjoys traveling, reading, movies, concerts, and time with her husband, son Walter, and their dogs. She is passionate about supporting educators across Texas in strengthening classroom practice.
